i try not to spend all my money on cds and make up, but sometimes it doesnt work. today at lunch time i picked up gerseys storms dressed as stars. i spun it in my discman for the train ride home, and its pure gold. soft, winding and mellow. roll out the heartbreakers indeed.

something has been eating at me lately. the rugby league season is about to kick off here in sunny new south wales. this means that teams are playing trial games in regional centres. the canterbury bulldogs got sent to play a game in holiday town, coffs harbour. they came back into town with the alligation of the gang rape of one girl by something like six of the players. since then, there has been much speculation in the media about players involved, and whether it even happened in the first place.

im not writing this to air my opinions on whether this incident took place or not. my gripe is the fact that we are even questioning that this girl was raped because of the simple fact that the alleged perpetrators are top grade footballers. house hold names right across south west sydney.

how dare we, as a public, dismiss this girl because of the fame of the people she is accusing. im not saying that the footy players are guilty. my point is, with a crime as horrible and life destroying as rape, our mentality should be guilty until proven innocent.

its hard enough already for a girl to report a rape. the thought what if no-one believes me runs through her head a million times im sure. so what is this story going to do for the girl who is raped tonight by someone with a name or a good reputation ?? shes going to take one look at the press and decide no-one will believe her story, and justice will not be served.
