all i know is that i'm getting old

we went and saw eskimo joe last night. at the casino. it was a good show, but a weird venue. they had put up a stage in the sports bar area. so on one side you had tvs with the live action from dapto dogs and harold park trots, then in the middle eskimo joe, and on the other side an eatery. it was pretty stupid actually, to go to get food, you had to walk through the crowd. we had more than one confused asian person in front of us throughout the show.

also, the stage was really small, but they insisted on having the same kind of lighting you would in a big concert hall. i am almost blind after having big purple and blue spotlights shine directly into my eyes every 30 seconds.

but other than that, it was a good show. i like seeing eskimo joe, they always seem to really enjoy the music that they play. and it also helps that the lead singer, kav, is a sexy, sexy man.

i think the test of whether we enjoyed the show was passed when we got home and played their fist album, girl, and select tracks off a song is a city.

our lease on this place runs out at the beginning of march next year. ive been thinking quite hard about where i want to live after that. basically, the reason we are on the north shore is because thats where boyfriends work is. and it would be a pain in the ass for him to get to work from anywhere else really.

however, his employer are moving their offices to the city at the end of november. so depending on where i am, we could just about move anywhere.

i like chatswood. its close to the city and we live almost as close as you could possibly get to the central shopping district. but the cost of living is so expensive. if we lived on the other side of the bridge, we could have the exact same unit, and be paying 100 dollars a week less rent. and its not just rent, things like takeaway are more expensive here too. and i dont think theres anywhere in chatswoodia where you can get a beer for under $4.

so, with a change in location for the boy, and an expected change in job for me, and the addition of a car to our family very likely, sydney is our oyster. but where to move to?

i have decided on the leichhardt area. its close to the city, it has the charm and yummy food of norton street, walking distance to the annandale, and frankly, it just sounds like a cool place to live.

either that, or i want to live in a terrace somewhere.

oh well, i guess ive got 5 months to decide.

finally, a new jb hifi just opened up in chatswood, i think i might wander down there later and see if theres any chance they have stocked the new nada surf album a few days early.
